Can't Stop The Serenity 2021

It was hard to believe that our last CSTS event at Brewvies was a full two years ago! So much has changed, both in the world at large and even in our own group. In 2020, as with everything live and in-person, we were forced to cancel this event, which has historically been our largest annual fundraiser. We also keenly felt the cancellation of the Salt Lake FanX event in the fall, and even though we made up the difference with some great virtual events, it just isn't the same as being there live.
In 2019, just a few months before the pandemic became a global reality, we lost one of our founding Board members to suicide. Cheryl was not only an integral part of the Utah Browncoats Society, she was also a key member of the global Can't Stop The Serenity organization. In a sense, this event was part fundraiser and part memorial. While we understand that not every attendee knew her, we felt that this first event since her passing was an important milestone to recognize.

That being said, even with a reduced number of attendees, the mighty Utah Browncoats came through and our first fundraiser of 2021 has produced a whopping total donation of $3,042!
We did laugh a lot, we definitely cried a bit, and we are full of gratitude for all the support from all of you, and from our wonderful venues who went out of their way to welcome us back!
As expected of a CSTS Global event, 75% of our proceeds - $2,282 - will go to Equality Now, and in honor of Cheryl and as a hope that it will help even one person, our 25% -will go to the Utah chapter of NAMI.
